The Commission on Economic Opportunity for the Greater Capital Region is a not for profit Community Action Agency and a leading provider of Head Start early education programs. We will be having a job fair at our Joseph L. Bruno Family Resource Center, located at 2328 5th Ave., Troy, 12180. Childcare representatives will be on hand to conduct immediate interviews for positions located in various Rensselaer county locations, for our Fall 2014 programs. To be considered for an immediate interview, bring a resume, a copy of your highest degree and / or transcripts (if available) and also be prepared to complete an employment application. Positions available operate on either a 10 month or 12 month cycle:
Teachers for Head Start, Early Head Start, and UPK
Our Head Start, Early Head Start, and UPK teaching positions are responsible to plan and implement age appropriate curriculum and activities, work collaboratively with the Teacher Assistant, center staff, and service providers, and follow Head Start performance standards. The required qualifications are:
TEACHER – EARLY HEAD START (Infants and Toddlers) REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma plus an Infant/Toddler CDA, and prior experience with Infant and/or Toddler aged children
OR: AAS in Early Childhood Education and one-year experience working in with Infants and Toddlers.
OR: A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and one-year experience working in with Infants and Toddlers.
TEACHER – HEAD START (Pre-school) REQUIREMENTS:
An associate, bachelor’s or advanced degree in early childhood education with prior experience teaching preschool-age children.
OR: An associate degree in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children
OR: A bachelor’s or advanced degree in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children.
TEACHER – Universal Pre-Kindergarten REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a New York State certification in Birth thru 2nd Grade, or Pre-K thru 6.
Teacher Assistants, Classroom Floaters, and Substitute Teacher Assistants
These positions assist teaching staff with all aspects of classroom management. Requirements: High school Diploma (or equivalent) and the ability to obtain a CDA credential, and previous experience working with young children. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Stepping Stones II Daycare – Teacher Assistants
Teacher Assistants in our Stepping Stones II Daycare, work for 12 months of the year and assist classroom Teachers with all aspects of classroom management. Requirement: High school Diploma (or equivalent), plus prior experience working with young children. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Pre-Employment Requirements:Please note that applicants for most positions will be required to complete standard background clearances before their hire date, which may include fingerprints, New York State Child Abuse clearances, NYS motor vehicle report, a physical, TB Test, and a pre-employment drug screen.
