RPI Donates Garden to CEO’s Stepping Stones I Center

Beautiful garden offers a great learning experience for Head Start children

The Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) announced on Friday that the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) generously donated a beautiful garden to CEO’s Stepping Stones I location in Lansingburgh. RPI staff donated plants, materials, and their time to complete the project. This garden provides an opportunity for CEO’s Head Start children to learn about gardening and enjoy the outdoors. The garden also offers beautification to the Stepping Stones I playground, which is partially visible to the public.

“We have a beautiful flower garden that the children were involved in creating. We all worked hard and enjoyed every minute of it,” said Pam Ciano, Head Start Program Assistant at CEO. “We will continue to care for the flower gardens all summer to make the playground a beautiful place for our children to play in.”

Paula Geren, Head Start Teacher at CEO’s Stepping Stones I, also added, “We want to give special thanks to the RPI staff who helped make this possible: Scott Litwin, Gary Sharp, and RPI’s Grounds Staff. Thank you also to Tim Geren, for delivering the flowers and preparing the playground flower beds for planting.”
