How to Make Your Voice Heard
The Federal government has proposed changes to the rules that guide Head Start and Early Head Start. These proposed changes could affect programs, services, and support that children and families rely on. Parents and caregivers are invited to share your thoughts through a public comment.

Share your own experience, concerns or questions about the proposed Head Start changes.
You do not need to comment on every part of the proposal.
Deadline: October 6, 2026
Proposed changes include:
- How families qualify for Head Start
- Documentation required for enrollment
- Staff-to-child ratios and group size
- Services and supports for children with disabilities
- English-language instruction
- Other program requirements
Why does your experience matter?
Parents and caregivers know firsthand what helps Head Start work for children and families. Your experience can help federal officials understand what these proposed changes could mean in practice. You can share what works well, what concerns you, and how a proposed change could affect your child or family. You do not need to be a policy expert. A thoughtful comment about one issue you know well can be valuable. Use your own words and, when possible, share a specific example from your experience.
